Vicente Ferrer: ¡Otro mundo es posible!

La viuda de Vicente, Anna Perry de Ferrer, explicó ayer, durante el funeral en Santa María del Mar, ante más de un millar de amigos que llenaban y desbordaban ampliamente el espacio del templo, que su esposo le había dicho antes de morir que quería descansar en paz, pero que ella pensaba que había bromeado:

"Conozco muy bien a mi marido, y sé que no tiene ningún interés en descansar en paz; seguro que está muy ocupado asegurándose que las puertas del cielo están abiertas para todos".

"Vicente Ferrer sólo hay uno, y para los que lo hemos querido y admirado, sólo hay una manera de recordarle: continuar su acción".

Anna Ferrer recordó también que su marido "nos hizo creer que es posible hacer lo imposible" y que "lo que para otros puede parecer gigantesco, para nosotros debe ser ordinario".

El universalismo actuante de Vicente tiene ahora una nueva cláusula, esta vez testamentaria, que vincula generosamente a su Fundación humanitaria más allá de la vida mortal de sus fundadores: su viuda declara solemnemente durante el funeral "que Ferrer no pertenecía a su familia o a ningún país, sino al mundo entero".

Así queda una vez más renovado y manifiesto ante Dios y ante los humanos que el Pacto de Amor que une conyugalmente a Vicente con Anna como fue la raiz de su acción humanitaria durante su vida lo seguirá siendo después de su muerte.

El siglo XXI se encuentra con una humanidad herida por enfermedades muy graves. La más dolorosa de estas enfermedades es, sin duda, la pobreza que vamos transmitiendo de generación en generación y que afecta a millones de personas.

Esta visión del mundo nos llama a la acción, a participar en la lucha de la humanidad, aquí y ahora, en la tierra, con el hombre y para el hombre, ¡Manos a la obra!

No podemos esperar a que las grandes actuaciones a nivel global arreglen el mundo. Los ciudadanos tenemos que intervenir. Porque las acciones pequeñas suman una grande. En realidad, todo el trabajo de los hombres y las mujeres ordinarios puede curar las heridas de la sociedad.

Cuando veo un hombre muriéndose, siento el mismo dolor que él tiene. Es la vida misma que se estremece.

La causa de mi dolor por otro es la compasión, palabra que justifica la intercomunicación de las penas y las alegrías entre los hombres. Pero la raíz de esta compasión es mucho más profunda; y es origen, a su vez, del impulso innato que tenemos los seres humanos de ayudar al que sufre.

Tenemos que llevar a cabo la revolución silenciosa de la hermandad; que el amor fraterno, la solidaridad viva, y la acción buena se infiltren en la sociedad y la transformen en verdadera humanidad. Que de una vez por todas triunfe la luz, la bondad, la grandeza del ser humano.

Y para que sea eficaz, todos hemos de contribuir en esta inmensa tarea, con hechos concretos, cada uno ha de tomar un nivel que repare el centro de gravedad moral de toda la Humanidad. Los millones de ciudadanos libres poseen en potencia más responsabilidad. Ha llegado la hora de hacer un llamamiento firme y sincero, para que toda la sociedad se dé cuenta de que tiene que actuar {con una {fuerza} mayor} que los insuficientes medios oficiales para Liberar {de} la pobreza.

Nuestro objetivo concreto ahora es remediar los sufrimientos de esta tierra olvidada, Anantapur. Para ello contamos con la ayuda del pueblo español. Unamos nuestras manos y nuestros corazones, ¡Adelante, mientras haya luz, caminemos!, ¡Otro mundo es posible!
