Feathers

Aren't feathers beautiful things? They are excellent examples of multifunctional structures devised by nature: Warmth, waterproofing, cushioning, bedding, water storage, balast, camouflage, display, expression, sound, roughage, propulsion, lift, sensing and cleaning. Today's message: Throw away your swiss army knife and find yourself a feather Continue

Cushion Rant

What is the point of cushions? I'm talking about the movable kind here, not the nice bit of padding on a wooden chair. What happens is I walk into the room, eyeball a comfy position on the sofa, align my bum, gracefully descend, and then as I relax.... Aaaaah! There's a bloody cushion jabbing me in the back. So now I have to writhe around or stand up and move the thing. If someone else comes in to sit on the sofa, the first thing they do is move my cushion to another chair. Are cushions just so… Continue

oh for goodness' sake, I don't know what to put as a title

Today I haven't got much woork done. I haven't got much done all week to be honest, but that's just the way I work. I can't concentrate on this bloody stupid uni stuff without a shot of adrenaline. In fact, I'll be honest, I hate it. Yes, that's right, hate it. I just can't see the bloody point. Oh wait, what's that I hear? 'It's all part of the process and it'll get you a degree.' So what? I'd honestly much rather be working outside, earning a modest wage, and quite possibly having a laugh. T… Continue

Brother Ed, Origami Champion 2008

Well today I had to be up early to get into uni early to rehearse my powerpoint. Between getting up and leaving for uni I also had to aquire a tesco bag full of apples and create a monk costume to wear during my presentation. The aquisition of apples proved far easier than I had anticipated since there was a bag of the things hanging on my coat peg. I now believe in house elves. The monk outfit was a doddle too. Also on my coat peg I found an old pony lead which served as a rather opulent rope w… Continue

Christmas Day

Oh what a day! I've watched four films, eaten enough turkey to sustain a small African nation for several weeks and succeeded in doing precious little else. Mission accomplished! I'm parked here infront of an open fire, fairy lights twinkling across the ceiling and a rather miserable specimen of a Christmas tree standing sentry behind me. Its very festive admittedly, but a bit on the warm side. If it were up to me we'd have some chestnuts roasting over the fire to soak up a few of the excess BTU… Continue

Grandiose Speech

I can't help feeling that I should make some bold statement in my first blog on this site (on any site in fact). However, as is usual at times of relative importance, I am stuck for anything interesting to say. I don't really want to talk about myself, boring any poor sod that stumbles upon this with tired anecdotes, or worse still, what I have done since I got up this morning and how I enjoyed my roast chicken lunch. I don't really want to make any proclamations demanding the collapse of multin… Continue

Life Jackets Save Lives In Florida Boat Accidents

If they were polled, most boaters and their passengers would tell you that life jackets weren't really a necessity. After all, the majority of drownings happen way out at sea, not when people are just leisurely motoring down the canals and waterways around the state, right? Wrong! According to the Personal Flotation Device Manufacturers Association, "nine out of ten drownings occur in inland waters, most within a few feet of safety, and involving boats less than 20 feet long. Most drowning victi… Continue

Enchance Your Professional Image With Color Name Tags

There was a time when the name badges used in most organizations or businesses were nothing more than a simple engraving with a person’s name and title. There was nothing special about them and they all looked the same, no matter what company or organization you belonged to.
