Another blog. If I were serious about blogging, which one should I choose?
I have forgotten about KnolStuff. It's been many months, perhaps a couple of years. I was attracted to KnolStuff because I was interested in knols. I am back here because suddenly a request to approve/confirm a new "friend" showed up in my regular email box. So, let me check this place a little. So much advanced software, so needed in the Internet, we could only dream about such wonders in early 1990's, but somehow it do…

I hope everyone enjoyed their Obama Day!
I woke up this morning to some interesting news. If you haven't yet heard, the official website for the White House (www.whitehouse.gov) has been changed! And I'm not talking about just the photos!!
President Obama used the Internet to his advantage during his campaign. He continues to surround himself with the young and talented minds he needs to continue this venture. Hence, the overhaul of Whitehouse.gov. Now, mind you, these "abi…

I know, I know, everyone is talking about social media, twitter this and facebook that! What's it all about? Why is everyone so interested in the minutiae of our lives? Well, I don't know the answer to that but I DO know that participating in social media is very much like participating in business and social networking groups. At first, you meet a lot of people, you shake hands, you engage in small talk and you get to know a little about each other. But after several meetings you become more en…

Mike Seidle from
Pro Blog Service wrote..."Most of our clients at Professional Blog Service come in thinking SEO. Somewhere they hear that blogging works for getting better ranks on Google. Then a funny thing happens: After about one-three weeks the light goes on and they realize that social media can be much bigger than SEO for their business. After that the game changes to a full on social media blitz - and the SEO benefits - they don’t…

Well, it's time to convert your website into a mobile version.
Why?
iphone is now selling re-furbished iphones for $99.00 (so practically anyone can afford an iphone) - AND Walmart is now selling iphones. That means that this product will now be more in the mainstream than ever. The number of mobile phone users continues to grow, despite the global recession. And what is the mantra for Internet marketing?
GO WHERE YOUR AUDIENCE IS
Yes, the "build it…

Well, I've read and watched several reports this weekend about 2009. And uh, none are promising. I'm paraphrasing here but reading in the newspaper, online and watching CNN, MSNBC and Fox (I guess I am a news hound!) - it seems that we're all in for a very rough ride in 2009.
President Elect Obama said last week, "...it's going to get worse before it gets better..."

Oh, but you'd be surprised how many websites miss this point!
Think about it - search engines are just machines. All they can do is match up the words that people type in to their computers and laptops and mobile devices - with the words that are on the website pages. Or blog pages, or press release pages, etc. You get the point. Yes, there are semantic rules, there are placement rules, there are many rules, but the bottom line is if your audience is typing in "abc" and you're marketi…

A few months ago I purchased an

Someone asked me yesterday, "What do we need to do to market ourselves on the Internet?"
My answer was, "You have to find out what your audience is looking for and then give it to them." - Pretty simple? Well, yes and no. You see, the difference between Internet marketing and traditional marketing is that it's much easier with Internet marketing to identify what Internet users are searching for. Why? Because what they type in is being recorded. Everywhere!
Let me show you..…

If you haven't heard yet about Twitter - and I can't imagine how that could be - but just in case - let me give you a rundown.
Twitter.com is a micro blogging tool. All that means is that it's a program, online, where anyone can go, create an account and begin following people and of course, get followed. With that account they can post a note, up to 140 characters, as many times as they like throughout the day, week, month, year, etc. Basically, it's an online instant messaging service. So, wh…

What do people search for on the Internet? You'd be surprised!
One way you can find out is to check out Google Trends' HotTrends section. They list the top 100 search trends. Today is November 24th and a pattern emerged on today's list, the pattern is "Thanksgiving". I bet you think people are searching for things like...
How to cook a turkey for thanksgiving.
Recipes for thanksgiving.
Well, maybe they are searching for these but not enough times to make it…

Yesterday I was watching a news station, can't remember if it was MSNBC or CNN but either way, the reporter was talking about the Obama Condoms that she just purchased in NYC! I know that America, and the world for that matter is on an Obama Kick but really, condoms?!
Well, why not? I'm sure that condom manufacturer just saw an opportunity to catch the wave and ride it for as long as he/she could! It's crazy marketing! Are you taking advantage of crazy marketing? Why not? Well, maybe…

A Day In The Life Of A Search Engine Optimizer
Some business owners begin Internet marketing on their own. They read the small business guides and learn all they can about search engine optimization. It's a great way to begin Internet marketing because, in my opinion, it gives the business owner first hand knowledge of what is REALLY involved in the SEO process. But for those of you who simply hired someone to manage Internet marketing, search engine optimization for your website, let me…

The 2008 Christmas season will definitely be a reflection of the economy at the time. And by all accounts, the economy during Christmas 2008 will not be good. As more and more economists tell us that we haven't yet hit rock bottom, the worst is yet to come, etc. I think it's only fair to conclude that we will be in for a rocky ride not only for the end of 2008 but most if not all of 2009. Let's hope it ends in 2009! But, time will tell.
But, back to 2008 Christmas season - how can you…

"I typed my name in and I'm nowhere on Google?"
Usually, a day or two after I begin marketing a new website, I get this question in an email or phone call. Even though on the proposal I sent out to the client and on the contract I have the client sign it clearly states that it takes 3-8 months to get listed and ranked in Google's engine. But, the questions still come. So, to answer this question, here's a quick little summary of how Google lists sites.
1) Contrary to what…

Does your website have goals? I mean REALLY!
I bet you think it does. Some of you may be right. But, just to make sure, go and check.
The website goals I'm talking about are measurable goals. This means that when you look through your website stats you can measure if the goals are being met or not. After all, what's the point of reviewing statistics on the website if you don't even know if the campaign is working? But believe me, so many website owners just get a report of…
